I'm proud to announce Long + Georgette are one of mine! They joined the Photos by Yaz family earlier this year and unfortunately had to postpone their wedding due to the "C" word. They both have such genuine hearts and even after so many years, have such pride and admiration for one another. She is his loudest cheerleader and he's her #1 fan. I really can't wait to meet all their friends and family. This is sure to be the funnest group I'm yet to meet.
Long and Georgette had a year of overlap together at St. Edward’s University. While they never talked, this is where they shared a class together and where Long first laid eyes on Georgette. He admits he immediately knew Georgette was Lebanese when he saw her sitting across the room and Facebook stalked her for months. He said he knew he would date her one day!
Georgette transferred to UT her sophomore year, while Long stayed at St. Ed’s. About a year later, she threw her best friend Isabel a birthday party. They told friends to bring more friends. Chanel invited Long – she gets the credit for officially bringing them together! They became friends after the party, but only saw each other from time to time. The next year, Long asked Georgette to go on a date! He picked her up with flowers in hand, took her out to an Italian dinner, and ended the night at Doug Sahm Hill, a hidden gem off of Lady Bird Lake where they sat together and took in the views of the lake and city! From 2013 to 2019, they not only grew up together, but they also grew closer to one another. While they were able to enjoy being young, they still learned how to “adult” together—as best they could in their 20’s!
On November 24, 2019, they went to Mass. Afterward, Long tricked Georgette into thinking she was going to an event with Isabel. On the way, he took a “wrong turn” and ended up at the same spot he took her to on their first date. When they made it to the top of the hill, he proposed! It was such a special moment – it was so emotional that neither of them remembers anything after Long got down on one knee.
By their wedding date, they would have dated over 8 years. These amazing years have made them a stronger couple and feel confident that they are ready to be husband and wife! They are also very excited that their ceremony will take place where Long was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church last year. They feel very lucky that they get to begin this new chapter of their lives with so much love and support, both near and far!
