The first time I spoke to Beth was over a 45-minute phone call. This isn’t uncommon when my couples live outside of Austin. She was living in Houston at the time and was planning their wedding in Corpus Christi.
Jess and Beth had their first date when she was 16 and he was 18. He came up from South Padre Island to take her out for the day. It was in the middle of spring break so Beth told her parents she was spending the day with friends. They enjoyed lunch at the Executive Surf Club, walked on the Bayfront and jetties and then spent some time on the beach. Jess is a man that loves to fish but don’t let him tell you otherwise, this right here was his best catch. BUH DUM TSS!
They had just moved to Houston into their first home together. Jess had planned a family dinner on a Friday as Beth was getting off work. They enjoyed each other’s company at a Mexican restaurant where Jess decided not to sit next to Beth, which of course she found odd. When dinner was over, they all went back to their new place. The second deadbolt was locked because Beth’s dad had driven in from Corpus however, her initial thought was that Abi and Kit (her sister and brother-in-law) were announcing they were pregnant with baby #2. Boy, was she wrong! They all talked in the living room and Jess eventually got close to Beth and grabs her hands to tell her how their new home didn’t quite feel like home yet. He started reminiscing about the last 5 years they’ve spent together and talked about how much they’ve grown both on their own and as a couple and that he couldn’t wait to spend his life with her by his side.
We woke up and the wind was lifting everything in sight. Not to mention, Jess was feeling ill and everyone decided he needed to sleep until the very last minute. Is this the time to go on a Bridezilla frenzy? Hardly. Beth kept her cool. I walked into the Galvan House at Heritage Park and into the arms with the warmest of hugs. “You must be Yazmin!” This was my first impression of Beth’s mother, Laurie.
Together with their Jack Russells, they’ve built a life, and now a marriage. Celebrating with their friends and family in Corpus Christi amongst The Rose Garden at Heritage Park, they recited their own vows and created an evening full of love triumph. Beth + Jess, it was an honor to photograph the intimate details of your special day. I am thankful to have been invited into your lives and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you both!

Beth's suggestion to other brides in the planning process: "Stop stressing. You are planning the party to celebrate the love that you share with the man you want to spend the rest of your life with. The celebration of love is what matters, not napkin colors."
